Former Strikeforce middleweight champion Cung Le will return to action at Strikeforce: Evolution on December 19 in San Jose, California, according to Fanhouse, likely fighting Scott Smith at the Showtime-televised event.

Le (6-0) vacated the middleweight title in September after landing another movie role that would extend his 18-months of inactivity. Le, a decorated kickboxer, has fought exclusively for Strikeforce since transitioning to MMA in 2006, winning five-straight before earning the title with a third-round TKO of Frank Shamrock last year.

Smith (16-6), who went 1-3 in the UFC between 2006 and 2007, twice fought EliteXC middleweight champ Robbie Lawler in 2008, fighting to a no contest in their first bout before suffering a second-round TKO in their second meeting. Smith rebounded with back-to-back wins in Strikeforce over Terry Martin and Benji Radach, but was submitted by Nick Diaz in June in his most-recent fight.

Strikeforce: Evolution features Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza vs. Matt Lindland and the debut of Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal, and is also rumored to include the lightweight championship unification between title-holders Josh Thomson and Gilbert Melendez.

this card loos sick with jacare debut and king mo hell maybe sf will sign rampage and we can see nim and mo go at it to see who is king of the ghetto lmao.matt lindmand a crafty vet u never know what he has to offer whther its level a game or an easy win who knows who will show up but neve count him out.and yeah who the hell doesnt want to FINALLY see the malendez thompson rematch its been postboned hella times i just wanna see if gilbert has traine dup enough to avenge his loss personally i like both guys but know gilbert pretty well so im kind abias lol.

    Sick card indeed. When StrikeForce announced the "Smith vs Lee" fight during the event it had me thinking......Cung Lee coming back in just over a month from now made me wonder,why did he have to vacate the middleweight title? He could of defended it a little over a month from now but the more I thought about it I came to the conclusion of,maybe SF did it cause they wanted a Tittle fight on the card to help build and hype the event even more? Call me crazy but I'm gonna be rooting for Smith,he takes a lickin and keeps on tickin (haha) maybe Lee will be rusty and Smith can land that big shot?

    Henderson hasn't signed anything. He's still a free agent. Think Cunt Le should stay in the movies. But I'm lookin' foward to Thompson gettin' back in there with Melendez. But the Renaldo and Matt? Good time to find your place, Jacare, go get 'im!

    im not sure the card is still coming together but im sure they will announce it soon for promotional benefits lmao but i for one am glad le is back and maybe bobby debut.we both see the benefits of sf gaining speed in this up hill war to stay even afloat.
