"Ok guys, First of all i would just like to say hi to the community on these forums. Ive read them for a long time now but never bothered to make an account and post for a number of reasons. (Example being trolled)

Anyway i didnt get to catch the Shogun / Machida fight live, and im not one of those people who doesnt wanna be told the outcome until ive watched it myself. As soon as i woke up i came to these forums to find out what happened.

I could instantly tell by the multitude of threads and there titles that Machida had won but everyone was pissed about it. So as normal i went reading through everyones posts and had a look at why people were so upset and there reasons for it.

This morning i got around to watching the fight myself, now with the knowledge i had of how the fight turns out and also the points people had made on these forums, i thought i knew basically how the fight was going to fold out. However as i watched this morning the story was very different.

First of all in an attempt to not get trolled or be called a nuthugger, i just wanna say... im not a machida fanboi as you guys say, or a fanboi of any fighter really. And truth be told, i was expecting shogun to win, everyday when i came to the UFC site and saw a 70% vote for machida to win and shogun with only 30% i was laughing TBH. I thought it would almost be 50:50 on peoples guesses, and i was very surprised by betting odds. So now weve established im not a "nuthugger" ill continue on to my point.

So like i said i watched the fight with expectations from what i read on these forums, however im not sure why so many people are acting the way they are and freaking out so much.

Ive just paused the fight at the end of the 3rd round, and in my mind Machida has already won the fight, the only way i can see Shogun winning now if i were a judge.... would be by knockout or submission (stoppage basically) and before people rage at me, let me just explain why i see it that way.

First of all i think Machida won round 1 and round 2 not decisevely or as clear cut as i say it, but i feel he did enough to bag those rounds. Round 3 i also give to machida as overrall he worked the most. So like i said i have the fight paused now while i came here to post this, but in my mind Machida has already won unless shogun can put Machida asleep basically.

Now heres a few factors why i think Machida has won the first 3 rounds in my eyes.

First of all Machida has landed the most hits outright, Now he didnt hit Shogun that hard, and the few times shogun connected on Machida, Shogun hit machida like a train, but the fact remains he did land more hits than shogun. Now there is the factor of the harder hits score more points, but i honestly believe that with the amount of hits Machida got through those few big bombs shogun landed couldnt compensate for Machida's efforts.

Secondly, and this is 1 of the official judging factors i believe, and 1 point that i havent seen anyone else on the forums post... OCTAGON CONTROL, now this swung a little bit back and forth.... but i can safely say based on the fact i was watching the clock and timing most of it in my head, that Machida had Octagon Control atleast 60% of the time, and in some rounds more. He was often stood in the middle with Shogun circling around before pushing forward, then Machida would circle off from an attack and take his center spot straight away again. Now this isnt a massive factor i feel in scoring, but i think it may have helped machida in his outcome.

Thirdly.... This one to me is the BIGGEST reason why people are so upset by the result. The commentary.... I have nothing against Joe Rogan or Mike Goldberg (sorry if i mispelt there names) but in this fight (especially from Joe Rogan) the commentary was basically praising Shogun the entire time, Rogan kept yapping on about Shoguns hits, how good he looked etc etc, and mike goldberg was even making comments saying that machida possibly lost the rounds. EVERY SINGLE time the fighters clashed, Rogan would say something good about Shogun, but never acknowleged Machida. And the times where Machida would land unanswered hits on Shogun, the commentary was silent.

I think this factored massively into why alot of you guys are so upset, Rogan basically made you think everytime that Shogun had nailed machida that shogun wasnt getting hit himself, But if you watch closely and play exchanges back a few times, you can clearly see (Except for 2 times) that on all exchanges from both fighters, Machida was landing blows on Shogun aswell, but with Rogan's commentary you were led to believe that shogun had hit machida, but machida had missed or something, and this was for from the truth.

In my brackets above i say except for 2 times, because during the first 3 rounds i could only see 2 times where shogun hit machida and didnt get hit back, which then it would of been justifiable for Rogan to make the comments he was saying, but every other time, both fighters were landing hits on each other (Shoguns considerably harder than machidas) but Rogan was only praising Shogun at those times, and i really do believe if you watched this fight without the commentary, your opinion would be different, and you may agree that Machida won the fight.

I also read a thread from another user about how he scores fights, and using his method the decision seems justified, i thought it was a very unique and cool way to judge fights, and i think it works TBH, forgive me but i dont remember the users name or where the post is... anyway the basic judging style was that you break each round into 5 1minute segments, and whoever did the most work in that minute, wins that minute.... its basically the same aspect as winning rounds to win a fight, except you win minutes to win a round... Example if a fighter controls the first 3 minutes of the fight and lands the most hits, even if the other fighter comes back for the last 2 minutes of the round and does more work in those minutes and more hits in the time frame, the first fighter has won the round, because he already had 3minutes of scoring behind him.

Now using the above said scoring method, you should all be able to come to the same decision i came to, Round 1 and 2 straight up Machida's rounds, it was close and not as clear cut as i say it is, but i really believe Machida won those rounds.

Round 3 is also Machida's HOWEVER thats only based off the minute judging style i was using, Machida won minutes 1-3 then Shogun does some absolutely insane damage and aggressive flurrys from minute 3-4, However do note that the punch flurrys Shogun threw twice didnt hit machida, not 1 of his punches landed during that phase, it was mostly some devastating kicks in minutes 3-4. Then minute 4-5 of the end of the round goes to machida again, as Shogun doesnt hit him at all after his impressive display from minutes 3-4 and machida in my eyes has 4minutes to shoguns 1 minute.

Anyway im sorry this post is so long but i really had to post this times, i see alot of things that annoy me and people making endless threads on the same subject (Exactly like im doing now) and i always kept my mouth shut, but today i just had to say something.

The main reason i made this thread is because i love the UFC, and a ton of you guys said your gonna stop watching UFC and that UFC has lost a fan etc etc etc, Now i dont work for UFC or anything like that but i dont want to see fans leaving and watch the sport go down the drain, which i highly doubt would happen.... but i want to see it grow faster than it already is, and if i can convince even 1 of u people who said u werent going to pay to watch UFC ever again, to change your mind, then i have accomplished something, tho it will be very small, it still works to the big picture of making this sport bigger than it already is.

Anyway im now going to watch rounds 4 and 5, im not sure what im about to see, but i believe from peoples posts that Shogun is about to smash Machida up something fierce.

Just remember guys that fights are scored by rounds, and not the overral performance, i could be about to see Shogun smash Machida within an inch of his life in rounds 4 and 5, but in my eyes Machida already has 3 rounds to himself, so unless Shogun stops him, (which he doesnt obviously) Machida has won.

I would also liek to say, get off Machida's nuts guys, he didnt score the fight nor did he have influence, stop making sh1tty comments of how he should give up his belt, i dont think theres a fighter out there who would give up there belt if they won a controversial decision, EVEN if they believed themselves that they lost the fight.

Do you guys really think Shogun would have give up the belt if these fighters were the other way around? hell no, so stop hating on Machida.

There both awesome fighters and i cant wait to see them fight in the future, but theres no need to put so much hate on them.

Oh and before i go i just wanna say.... Cain vs Rothwell, jesus christ Cain is a monster, i was awestruck in that fight. I hope he continues to improve in the devastating fashion he is now, he is really turning into force to be reckoned with.

Ok just finished watching rounds 4 and 5.

Shogun won 4 outright, and did enough to bag 5, but i was expecting a dominant display from posts i had read, all shogun had was confidence, he was jumping round and was holding his body differently, but he didnt really do anything effective.

The commentators kept talking about Machida's legs... sure he had bruises and they were sore, but they werent that bad that he was limping. Ive seen fights where leg kicks win u the decision, because the guy can barely walk, but those leg kicks from this fight werent enough to win the fight. Machida was still able to launch quickly and avoid attacks from Shogun.

Also the commentary plays into the decisions again, i played back some parts of the fight, and i noticed 2 times where Rogan says "excellent leg kicks to the thigh of Machida from Shogun" and it didnt even connect with Machida's thigh.... on both occasions im speaking of Machida blocked it with his shin, and Shogun whinced from the pain of his foot cracking on Machida's shin, then he became less willing to throw kicks. So really the commentary led alot of you to believe something else was happening from what was really going on.

Then there was an exchange where Machida landed more punches and more powerful ones on Shogun somewhere in the 5th round, and once again Rogan praises Shogun, when you could clearly say in that little exchange that Machida was victorious during that encounter.

Anyway i really fail to see why alot of you are so upset, im not a Machida karatekid fanboi as i posted earlier.

But i truly believe he won the fight.

Leg kicks dont win fights, punches to the face do.

And he certainly did not "beat the champion" if you wanna be champ you have to decisevely dismantle or stop the champion. Not land legkicks and raise your hands at the end. "

I read all of this and I get the commentary and everything so if you guys think that SHOGUN won it, read this whole fight first!!!!!
