M1 Whatever............. Who Cares?

November 8, 2009

Am I alone on this one?

So last nite was about the fights. All were great and entertaining and at the end of the nite i didnt remember that it read "Strikeforce/M1 Productions"

Who cares????

I know who the Fertitias and Dana and that understandable but cmon? After seeing how insignifigant it was give Fedor a 4 fight deal with M1 as co-promoter and lets see what this guy can do in the UFC. Sometimes you have to give a little to get a little. I've written before how they really both need each other equally.

If Henderson fights Gergard on the same card that Randy fights Fedor or even better Anderson fights either Fedor or Gergard then the UFC is going to have some stiff competition going forward in the quest to be the premiere MMA promotion.

And furthermore if one tries to make the argument that "well then everyone will want some sort of co-promotion thing" well then thats even better for the UFC because Fedor will be the litmus test and i dont see anyone else going undefeated for 10 years and if they do well then they deserve a little something extra. Its a win/win for the UFC making Fedor the prototype for asking for something.

i don't think the ufc should co-promote. imo, it's absurd. there is alot more to it than just seeing an m-1 logo on the tv screen. they would have to split profits with a far lesser organisation for the events featuring those fighters. i want to see those 2 fighters in particular, go to the ufc just as much as most other people, but its the morals of the expected deal that keeps me from giving "my personal, single fan, approval" of such a deal happening.

Both sides have a point, but the fans want to see it. Dana should make it happen.

Why should UFC have to deal with another promotion when all they want to do is deal with the fighter? M-1 wanted more than they had to offer. Their "fair" share wasn't fair at all.

Its all about money. UFC/Zuffa want too keep all the money. With Co-Promtion they would've had too share it. What I found funny was before Fedor ever signed to M-1, UFC didnt want him to do Sambo. Now that he did sign with M-1 UFC thaought they could get him with offering a lot of money. If they can offer a lot of money to him, why cant they Co-Promote?

If their offer was true(it wasnt) they can easily do Co-promotion. But it all came down too Money!!! UFC wants too keep everything it makes and pay fighters barely 5% of what t makes. The gate alone can pay their fighters at an event.

Giving a little to get little is an understatement. Yes as far as production value it will be the same. And the only difference being UFC and M1 on the poster, or Goldberg saying, this is brought to you by ufc and m1, that's all we see as fans. But when you are talking about millions of dollars going to a fighters representatives, on top of what you are already giving the fighter to fight, it is unreasonable. Fedor only has two fights left on his M1 Global contract, I'm sure after two more wins with Strikeforce, he'll be on his way to the UFC.
