Wash'Up, Dawg?

June 15, 2009

washed up. we hear it all the time affixed to a veteran fighter's name and it's starting to sound old [no pun intended].

so how does a fighter become so? does a string of losses make a fighter washed up? if so, there are a lot of relatively young fighters qualifying for this tag. if not, then what does?

Im with you Blast, perhaps there is no one thing. You just no it when you see it. Clearly your reflexes leave and strength and stamina eventually. Thats why when these guys hit the juice, (synthetic testosterone) it bumps that testosterone level up. Blast, don't be surprised when you see some look like they defy father time something is lets say ..... helping. Its the law of nature. hahaha

yeah i know, rick. but except for the age factor, these other manifestations plague younger fighters too, right? are they entitled to the "washed up" tags, as well?

Yeah i would like it more with a lack of motivation and desire than age, Randy is proof of that.

Blastradius, I know you know. Here you go. There reflexes slow, they get hit before they hit, they tire, they lose focus, they develop other intrests, they look peaked, some look fleshy, some look gaunt, some look ghostly, some don't punch as much, some don't punch with power, some quit during the fight. If you see this in your fighter you hurt for them. It is awful to see and much worse to feel. Its getting old man, and all of us, if we're lucky, face it. Peace out.
